Salon Prive at Blenheim Palace

Today whilst Francois Bouchet, Neptune and Venus paraded upon us with heavy torment & voluptuous clouds  looked as if they would open at any moment, was the time for a gentle stroll amongst a delightful array of classic and ultra-modern sports cars in the splendour of Blenheim Palace. Accompanied by a glass of champagne, a lobster lunch and an afternoon cream tea, what more could one ask for?

Perhaps a ride in what has now become one of my favourite cars of all time: the 1947 Cisitalia 202 SMM Nuvolari Spider, rallied currently by two Belgium women, this poppy red sublime vision with acute rear wings, Bakelite interior dash buttons and exquisite door handles – might be the antidote. AND it was. I managed to sneak a ride in her for the parade in front of the Judges and audience, minutes before the heavens indeed opened and our brollies went up.

Enjoy the gallery, slightly bias you may find! included are : BMW 328 1937, a now rather ‘common’ (?!) but still utterly gorgeous Mercedes 300 SL and a selection in the sports car category.

Thank you Salon Prive as always for a delightful day amongst the mythological creatures.
