Assistant

photography assistant and agent

I am currently looking for a motivated individual to join me as a remote photographer’s assistant and agent on a commission-only basis.

This is not a typical job listing. I am Lara Platman, an award-winning photographer, Leica Ambassador and Getty contributor, and I have recently been commissioned to write a book, which means I need the right person to focus on business development while I focus on the work.

The role is fully remote, with one Zoom call per week and one in-person meeting per month (UK-based candidates only: London or The Cotswolds preferred).

Commission is 20% on all sales and bookings you generate:

  • Fine art prints from £450 – (average sale value £900)
  • Half-day photographic commissions from £500
  • Full-day Photographic commissions £800–£1,200
  • Please note: tuition and workshop bookings are not part of this role

This is a genuine opportunity for someone who wants to build experience and income in the photography world,  whether your background is in assistance, representation, or sales.

How to apply:

There is no lengthy application form. Instead, please send an email to:

applications@photofeature.co.uk

  • With the subject line: Assistant Application – Name
  • In your email, please include the following:
  1. A short introduction: who you are, where you are based, and a little about your background.
  2. Why this role appeals to you: what draws you to photography, to sales, or to working in a creative industry.
  3. Any relevant experience: this could be in photography, arts administration, sales, client management, or anything else you feel is relevant. Please don’t be put off if your experience is limited, enthusiasm and professionalism matter more than a lengthy CV.
  4. Your availability: are you looking for something to fill part of your week, or are you looking to build this into a primary income? Either is fine, but it helps to know.
  5. Any questions you have for me: this is a two-way conversation, and I am happy to answer questions before you commit to anything.

What happens next:

I will read every application personally and respond to those I would like to speak with. If you are shortlisted, the next step will be a relaxed Zoom call to get to know each other and talk through how the role would work in practice.

I am looking for the right person, not the fastest applicant,  so please take a little time with your email.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Lara
